Human vibrations:

Linde Material Handling has been working intensively on the research and development of technologies that prevent vehicle vibrations for over 20 years. Linde MH leads in reducing so-called “human vibrations.”
In the meantime there are clear guidelines in this regard from Brussels: the EU Directive “Vibration” 2002/44/EC came into force on 8 March 2007. It obliges companies to protect their employees from noise and vibrations. Linde forklift trucks are well below the thresholds it lays down.

This success has been achieved by means of various design measures: with regard to the current generation of forklift trucks we have adopted an innovative concept in which the mast is directly attached to the combi-axle. Both is like the tilting cylinder separated from the driver’s cabin and chassis by maintenance-free rubber supports. Air-suspension seats protect the driver effectively from harmful jolts, oscillations and vibrations.

Life cycle costs:

Considering the overall costs, products from Linde Material Handling have an advantage over those of other providers for several reasons. On the one hand they are global leaders when it comes to energy efficiency, and on the other hand they have extremely long service lives.

They are equipped with the latest drive train and emissions technology, such as highly developed diesel engines and hydrostatic transmission. Parts subject to wear are largely eliminated. The proportion of recyclable materials amounts to over 90 percent. This results in low oil, energy and raw materials consumption. Linde forklifts are also notable for their low noise and exhaust emissions. The procurement costs of a Linde forklift are balanced by the lower operating costs. Linde forklift trucks are economical in terms of fuel consumption, and minimal depreciation also contributes to low costs. So acquiring one has a positive effect on the balance sheet.

Drive concepts:

The availability of fossil energy sources is limited. Their price is rising, their consumption damages the global climate. We are confronting the technical challenge this poses: Linde Material Handling is working intensively on the development of the most environmentally friendly and economical vehicles possible and is expediting the development of alternative drive technologies.

Given the current state of technology, electric motors for forklift trucks are the most environmentally friendly drive system. Thanks to a multitude of technical innovations, the new electric forklift trucks from Linde set standards in terms of performance and economy. However, in the event of heavy demands, their performance is insufficient. Here forklift trucks with combustion cells are superior. Linde is examining various technologies that save fuel. For example, start-stop automatic drives: forklift trucks are on average in idle for about 30 percent of their operating time.

But only use of the hydrogen-powered fuel cell promises energy that manages without the emission of environmentally harmful carbon dioxide. Together with partners Linde is working on the development of practical solutions here. Until this has been achieved, natural gas suggests itself as an interim solution. Its energy density is admittedly lower, but in return its CO2 emissions are lower too than those of conventional fuels. The motors of the future will be more economical and emit lower quantities of pollutants such as soot and carbon dioxide. In the long term the aim is to develop alternative drive technologies that manage without fossil fuels and emit less soot and no CO2.
